Egyptian coinage spans over five centuries, from Ottoman provincial issues struck in Cairo from 1517 to the commemorative coins of the modern republic. The Muhammad Ali dynasty (1805–1952) transformed the monetary system, introducing the modern millieme and piastre. The Kingdom era produced iconic portrait coins of Kings Fuad I and Farouk I, while the republic has issued commemoratives marking milestones from the Aswan High Dam to the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Focus areas: Muhammad Ali-era silver piastres (1830s–1840s) are historically rich and still affordable. Kingdom-era gold pounds (Fuad I and Farouk I) command premiums but are readily available. Republic commemoratives in silver (Suez Canal, Nile anniversaries) are undervalued relative to their historical significance.
