قطر ودبي
The Qatar & Dubai Currency Board (1966–1973) issued one of the most historically unusual coinages in the Arab world — a shared currency between two states that both went on to join larger federations. Qatar became independent in 1971; Dubai joined the UAE. The joint currency covered dirhams from 1 dirham to 1 riyal. These seven years of coinage are the only numismatic record of these two sheikhdoms as monetary partners, making them prized by Gulf specialists.
A genuinely completable series — only a handful of denominations across seven years. The full set (1 dirham through 1 riyal, 1966–1973) is the goal. Condition varies widely as many circulated in harsh Gulf conditions. These coins are historically unique — no other Arab currency was shared between two states that both survived as distinct political entities. An ideal specialist collection.
